Vaanam

In this remake of telugu film Vedam director Krish and Simbu deliver us with a wonderful film with a strong message.
The story revolves around five characters Cable Raja (STR), Saroja (Anushka), Bharath Chakravarthy (Bharath), Rahim (Prakash Raj) and a poor family in which is Saranya  Ponvannan.

The first half concentrates on each story and the editing has been good. Eventhough you would be having no clue of what is happening in the screen, the first half keeps you in your seat only because of one person and that is none other than Santhanam. His timely jokes and way of speaking keeps you engrossed during the slow narration of the film.

But the second half is outstanding and is a pure mix of entertainment, comedy and sentiment. The very tough part of linking all the characters story into one climax is done very well by Krish. The message he delivers with this film is extremely wonderful.

All the characters are given good importance and the acting too has been exceptionally good. A special credit goes to STR who from his last film VTV has learnt to take the role that suits him. He should be very careful in choosing his role for next film as there would be very high expectastions from him after watching this film.
The music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is good to listen. The track 'Vaanam' acts as a sixth element in the film. Yuvan once again delivers and shows us what he is capable of.
The only negative of the film (as far I am concerned) is the song 'Evandi unepethan' which had high expectations leaves you frustrated due to strobe-lit effects which might result in epileptic seizures.
Overall the film is good and I would give it a rating of 4/5.
 Hats off to the team.
